Rescue. Heal. Rehome.
Our mission is to provide compassionate rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming for small and large animals throughout Central Pennsylvania, while supporting spay/neuter and TNR programs that create long-term solutions for animal overpopulation.

Why It Matters
Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is one of the most humane and effective ways to reduce the number of homeless community cats over time. By sterilizing cats and returning them to their original territory (or rehoming when appropriate), TNR prevents future litters, improves colony stability, and reduces common issues like fighting, roaming, and nuisance behaviors—while also decreasing the number of kittens that end up sick, starving, or entering overcrowded shelters.
3.2 million
cats enter U.S. animal shelters each year, contributing to overcrowding and limited resources for animals in need.
860,000
cats are euthanized annually in U.S. shelters, often due to lack of space and adoptive homes.
How to Make a Difference
One person can make a huge difference—because in rescue work, change happens one animal, one decision, and one act of kindness at a time.
Here are a few powerful ways anyone can help:
- Donate: Even a small gift helps provide food, vaccines, medication, and emergency care.
- Foster: Opening your home creates space for another animal to be saved—and gives them a quiet place to heal.
- Volunteer: Trapping for TNR, transport to vet visits, cleaning, organizing supplies, or helping at events all directly saves lives.
- Adopt: Giving an animal a forever home is the biggest transformation you can make.
- Share our mission: Posting, inviting friends to follow, or telling someone about us helps animals get seen—and supported.
- Sponsor a specific need: Covering one spay/neuter, vaccine visit, or a senior dog’s comfort care can change everything.
When someone chooses to help, an animal doesn’t just get care—they get hope.

Ways to help

Make a donation
If you believe in what we’re building, please consider making a donation to our General Fund. General Fund donations allow us to respond quickly to urgent needs and support every part of our mission—especially when an animal needs help right now.

Sponsor a senior Dog
When you sponsor a senior, your donation helps cover the things older dogs need most—veterinary care, medications, special diets, and comfort supplies—so they can live safely and peacefully in a foster or forever home (or in our care if placement isn’t available).
To sponsor a senior dog, you can donate to our General Fund and note “Senior Dog Sponsor” in the memo/message—or reach out to us, and we’ll match your sponsorship to a specific dog currently in need.

Adopt a Friend
Adopt a pet in need by working with one of our trusted partner organizations.
Through these partnerships, animals can be placed in loving homes faster while ensuring they receive the care, support, and resources they need to thrive.
Want to make a real difference in an animal’s life? Nittany Valley Animal Rescue is always looking for compassionate people to volunteer or open their home as a foster.
Whether you can help hands-on at our facility, assist with transport and events, support our TNR program, or provide a temporary home for a pet in need—your time and care save lives.
